"Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.". Luke 23:42
"Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” May this be our prayer every day! The “good” thief recognized Christ in the last moments of his life and Jesus promised him that he would be with Him in Paradise. What incredible words to hear from Jesus. May we, too, hear those same words from Jesus!! Today, we celebrate The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. We give thanks to Jesus for all he has done for us and for the difference Jesus makes in our lives.
In our gospel, Jesus is still teaching from the cross showing us that as king, His reign is not about power or wealth; it is about love, mercy, and peace. He has given His life for us. This feast helps us grasp what real kingship means – to be ‘servant’ to one another – acknowledging my life is not about me; it is about serving Christ and others. And so, we pray, dear Jesus, give us the grace to direct others to you and be your servant. Amen.
Thank You to Deacon Bill Dwyer for writing and sharing this reflection.
